Daniel Gontán · We buy faulty or old Macs

Sell your Mac, Sell a faulty, vintage or unused Mac

If you have a Mac that won’t power on, won’t charge, is broken, has become obsolete or is no longer worth repairing, we can assess it. We buy Apple Mac systems for repair, refurbishment, parts or technical recovery.

We buy Macs in situations such as:
  • Mac that won't turn on.
  • MacBook with a broken screen or a damaged battery.
  • iMac that's old, slow or has a faulty disk.
  • Mac mini, Mac Studio or Mac Pro that are unused.
  • Devices with a damaged logic board, power supply or charging circuitry.
  • Mac you don't want to repair but don't want to throw away either.

Technical assessment

We buy your Mac even if it's faulty

Not all faulty Macs are scrap. Some can be repaired, others are useful for parts, some have salvageable components and a few still have value even if they don't boot.

At Daniel Gontán we assess the device from a technical perspective: model, year, condition, fault, screen, logic board, battery, storage, accessories and the real possibility of repair or reuse.

If you're still undecided about selling or repairing it, you can also check our pages for Repair Mac, Mac data recovery or Apple vintage.

Faulty Mac

We assess Macs that won't power on, won't charge, have a broken screen, damaged logic board, depleted battery or macOS faults.

Old or unused Mac

If you have a Mac stored away for years, we can assess whether it has resale value, useful parts or technical interest.

Clear process

You send us the information, we review the case and tell you whether we're interested in buying it and on what terms.

Not sure

You don't know if it's worth anything

Send us photos, model and symptoms. We'll tell you whether it's of interest, whether it's worth selling or worth repairing.

Before selling

What we need to assess your Mac

To give you a realistic valuation we need to know which device you have and its condition. You don't need to know the exact diagnosis: just send clear information about the model, photos and symptoms.

The more accurate the information, the quicker and more precise the valuation. If the Mac doesn't turn on it may still have value, but it's useful to know if it has suffered liquid damage, a knock, prior repairs or if it still has its charger, box or accessories.

If possible, send us:

  • Exact model or serial number.
  • Actual photos of the device.
  • Condition of the screen, case and keyboard.
  • What fault it has or what symptoms it shows.
  • Whether it includes the charger, box or accessories.
  • If it has already been inspected by another service.

Data and privacy

Before selling your Mac, check whether you have important data

If the device powers on, it's advisable to sign out, back up and erase personal information before handing it over. If the Mac won't power on and contains important data, let us know before selling it.

In some cases you may first be interested in a Mac data recovery or a technical assessment before deciding whether to sell, repair or remove the storage.

Important before selling

  • Back up your data if the Mac works.
  • Sign out of your accounts if you can.
  • Don't erase anything if you need to recover data.
  • Tell us if the device won't boot and there's information on it.
  • Do not send passwords via a form.

Sell or repair

Should you sell the Mac or repair it?

Sometimes selling is the most logical option. Other times repairing can be more economical if the device still meets your needs, holds good value or the fault is affordable to fix.

If you're unsure, we can advise you. Daniel Gontán specialises in advanced repair of Apple devices, so the valuation isn't based solely on age: we also consider whether the fault can be fixed and whether the device deserves a second life.

Selling may be worthwhile if...

The device is severely damaged, you don't use it, repair isn't worth it, you've bought another Mac or you simply want to recover some value.

Repairing may be worthwhile if...

The Mac still meets your needs, the fault is specific, the data matters or the cost of replacing it with another is much higher.
