Apple electronic diagnostics and repair

MacBook Pro M3 won’t switch on

Two MacBook Pro M3 units that appear identical externally can fail at completely different stages. M3 models use highly integrated electronics. Before attributing the fault to the logic board you must rule out the charger, firmware, battery and peripherals.

The MacBook Pro M3 family includes M3, M3 Pro and M3 Max configurations. Power draw, ports and the logic board vary by configuration, even when the external symptom is identical.

Checks you can make without opening the machine

Note which chargers and ports have been tested. Stop testing if you detect localized heat.

Stop testing if there is any smell, localized heat, liquid or intermittent connections. Continuing may extend a localised fault.

Possible causes for this symptom

These are the areas to be examined in this case:

MagSafe or USB‑C input: checked before recommending replacement.

Battery: checked before recommending replacement.

Firmware: checked before recommending replacement.

Power rails: checked before recommending replacement.

Localized damage on the logic board: checked before recommending replacement.

The cause is confirmed by measurement and actual behaviour, not by similarity to another Mac.

What we check before quoting

Diagnosis combines power consumption measurement, port comparison and DFU checks. If the sequence is interrupted we identify the responsible rail before replacing modules.

We also check for secondary damage. A faulty input can affect the charging circuit; liquid can reach multiple connectors; and a power failure can leave damage to the file system.

Information you should provide

The more precise the description, the fewer unnecessary tests will be needed:

Does not respond with different chargers.

Briefly shows the battery icon and then powers off.

It is detected by another Mac, but does not boot.

The fault appeared after liquid exposure or a drop.

Reactivating is not the same as restoring

On some Apple Silicon Macs a firmware reactivation using another Mac can be attempted. Reactivation is aimed at preserving data; restoration reinstalls firmware and erases content. They should not be used automatically without understanding the user’s priority.

Data depend on the original logic board

On Apple Silicon storage is integrated and encrypted. Replacing the logic board does not automatically transfer documents, photos or projects. When there is no backup the strategy must prioritise the original board and avoid actions that erase content.

Before restoring firmware, reinstalling or accepting a replacement, consult the Mac data recovery service.

Apple specialist technical service

Repair before giving up

Services that rely solely on complete module replacement can present very high estimates. Electronic repair allows us to determine whether the affected circuit can be recovered without changing the entire logic board.

Tell us about the fault via contact and specify that it is a MacBook Pro M3.

Frequently asked questions

Can an update render it unable to switch on?

It can cause a firmware issue, but this must be distinguished from an electrical fault.

Can you quote based only on the symptom?

We can give a preliminary estimate, but the final cost depends on the cause, secondary damage and the components required.

Do you accept devices from other cities?

Yes. Contact us before shipping to describe the fault, state whether important data exists and receive packing instructions.
